HeartBrush brings joy into hospitals through creativity, creating a place of hope for patients, families, and providers alike, forging connections while transforming a stressful moment into art.
We believe creativity belongs in every care space.
HeartBrush partners with hospitals to offer art sessions for anyone who needs a moment of peace, bringing smiles from the small moments, no art experience necessary.
Through volunteering in hospital settings, I have seen the immense pressure carried by healthcare teams and the loneliness that patients and families can feel during difficult moments. Wellbeing has many parts, and while medicine treats the body, the spirit and emotions also require support.
That is why I founded HeartBrush. We bring art experiences to bedside tables, breakrooms, and care spaces, turning sterile moments into opportunities for calm, creativity, and connection. Whether someone is a patient, loved one, or provider, my hope is that HeartBrush offers a small moment of peace when it is needed most.
Our team is a community of students who are dedicated to making breakrooms and bedsides places full of color and creativity.
FOUNDER
Lipi Kothavade
A sophomore at Woodbridge Academy, an allied health school, Lipi is an artist who aspires to be a medical professional.
More than a year of volunteering in hospitals showed her how much a small creative moment can mean in a clinical space — and HeartBrush grew from there.
Volunteer with us.
Whoever you are, as long as you have the spirit to care for those going through struggles, you have a place at HeartBrush. No art experience is necessary—just a willingness to show up with kindness.
Our organization seeks to bring people joy amidst their struggles, through small actions, wherever we can.
✦
Patient art sessions
We plan to offer patients the opportunity to create art right from their bedside tables. They don’t have to be big or beautiful, but they provide a calm in the storm, and are a reminder of their resilience and hope.
Healthcare providers are the people working overtime behind the scenes, and it often takes a toll on them. These art sessions offer them a chance to step back from the high stress environment they are surrounded by.
While family members and loved ones may not be the ones in the bed, oftentimes they’re also going through their own challenges and struggles. They also deserve a chance to relax and take a break, as part of our community.
As HeartBrush grows, these are the targets we are aiming for in 2026 — bringing more creativity, calm, and connection into care spaces.
